As with every week here in The Big Easy, there is a FREE film screening happening in the city that is open to the public. In fact, this week is even more special because there are TWO FREE film screenings. New Orleans-area film lovers are lucky to have events like this so readily and consistently available to them. Take advantage of the opportunity and go out and see one or both of these special films.
The second FREE film screening this week is Two Spirits – a documentary which explores the cultural context behind a tragic and senseless murder.
Two Spirits will screen for FREE on Saturday, June 18 at 7:00 pm at AntennaGallery(3161 Burgundy St.). Refreshments will also be provided by Whole Foods Market. The screening is being held as part of the New Orleans Community Cinema – a FREE monthly screening series that pairs independently produced documentary films on timely and important social issues with leading organizations working on related issues in communities across the country.
As customary with Community Cinema screenings, a panel discussion with be held immediately after the film. This event’s scheduled speakers are: Mary Griggs, Chairwoman LGBT Community Center of New Orleans and Austin J. Badon, Jr., LA State Representative (D), District 100 (Mr. Badon has been invited, but not confirmed yet).
This screening and panel discussion are FREE and open to the general public.
