On Wednesday, Saint’s Quarterback Drew Brees made one the most important guest appearances that a celebrity can hope to make: Sesame Street. The athlete appeared with Elmo to introduce kids to the word “measure”. You can watch the clip of Drew Brees helping kids (and muppets) better understand how to use tools to find out how long or tall something is. With little ones of his own, this appearance had to be a special treat for Drew- and everyone, even Elmo, seemed happy to have him be a part of this classic television show!

But "Mr. Drew" isn’t the only celebrity who has had the pleasure of co-hosting with Elmo, here are some of the Southern Celebrity Gossiper’s favorites.

Amy Adams (who starred in the locally-shot “On the Road” with JRP New Orleans’ student, Madison Wolfe) : made her debut a while back.

… and this Metairie-native, Ellen DeGeneres celebrated her similarities with the famous host in 2008. Watch the video here

An appearance on Sesame Street is a make-it or break-it opportunity, and we’re happy to report that Drew Brees passed the test!

You heard it here first! Drew Brees was spotted in Metairie today at Lakeside Mall. It seems that the quarter back was treating his little ones to a laid-back night of shopping… and snacking. The three were seen eating in the food quart, before grabbing a short ride on the train. A friend of John Robert Powers New Orleans was able to snap a picture as the family boarded the ride, provide the image isn’t the best.

Brees had shopping bags with him, and many assumed that he was sneaking in some early Christmas shopping with just the boys. Perhaps that is why his wife was not with him? Like we said, the image quality of the picture may not be the best- the quality of the subject of the photo can not be matched! Brees has been keeping New Orleans proud for the past 2006, and hopefully many more years to come.

With international renown from his leading role in the “Twilight Saga” it is hard to image what actor, Taylor Lautner will do to top that experience. But according to Lautner, eating pizza and watching the New Orleans Saints is a dream come true. Did we mention that the Saints game was on the sidelines with Sean Payton? That’s right, after the famed werewolf wrapped his final shirtless scene the first thing he did was eat some Louisiana food and attend a local football game.

In his recent appearance on Jay Leno, Lautner joked about the restrictive diet that led to body that named him one of the sexiest men in 2010. We can only imagine how bad the temptation was, too- what with the movie being filmed in a state prized for its rich foods! So, once the final movie was complete he opted for jambalaya over the gym, and indulged himself in the local cuisine. It was also around this time that Saints’ coach Sean Payton extended an invitation for the young star to be special guest at the superdome. Lautner got to watch the game on the sidelines- and even had the privilege of his own headset. A lifelong football fan, Taylor Lautner could think of no better way to end his stay here in New Orleans.

While we are all sad to see the cast of Twilight head back to their respective cities, we know that they are taking a little bit of the local culture with them. Whether it be the food, the football… or the unusual, these stars won’t be able to find anything better than what they had in LA when they are back in L.A.!
